Goodbye and Hello
Last week, we all said goodbye to our beloved tractor, Fergie. She has helped on our farm for many years and had been an integral part of each season here. Reed, in particular, was heartbroken to see her go. Reed loves older, two-wheel drive tractors and thought that Fergie was just perfect. However, Reed's spirits were soothed when he saw the shiny new tractor that Fergie was traded in towards. Casey, our new tractor, will certainly be a part of our farm for years; both kids, as well as their daddy, too, were thrilled to take their inaugural rides.

Spelunking in a Snow Cave
Reed has been taking advantage of the recent snowfall and deep accumulations by creating snow tunnels and caves with the assistance of his dad. Reed has also enjoyed exploring the winter landscape of the farm and stomping through the deep snow to look for tracks. Willa, sadly, does not yet share her brother's enthusiasm for the snow and winter weather. However, we are not giving up on her and we were happy to allow her to enjoy the season on her own terms. The last photo is of Willa, snuggled in her warm clothes and Reed's koala hat, snoozing in the sun on her sled.
Willa's Pre-Party
Willa's second birthday party was held a few days early. Saturday night, her Nanas and Pas joined us for a small family party, just the way Willa likes it (photos still to come from the party). Willa also had very specific plans for her party, including red, blue and pink balloons, orange cupcakes and French fries. Here are a few photos of Willa enjoying her balloons before her party.
It's Party Time
Willa's birthday was celebrated on Saturday evening with a small family party, just the way she wanted. Willa and her brother, who coordinated the decorations, mama and dada, and nanas and pas enjoyed dinner (fries!) and cupcakes (orange with sprinkles), presents, balloons and many games of "Ring Around Willa Rosie", one of Willa's favorites. It was a delightful celebration of the most delightful and loved little girl!

The Big Dig...Out
Reed and Willa received a surprise on Friday morning when they woke up to an unexpected 14" of snow overnight. This surprise made for a fun outing in the deep, deep snow. Although many of the grown-ups in Central NewYork were certainly irritated by the unpredicted winter accumulation, no complaints were heard out of these kids' mouths!

Playing in the Band
With recent illnesses and very cold winter temperatures, Reed and Willa have been spending an unusual amount of time playing indoors. Yesterday morning, we formed a "rock and roll band" according to Willa and played and sang and marched those winter blues away.
