Changing of the Seasons

The fall seems fleeting and we have been getting tastes of the cooler weather to come.  We recently took a family hike down in the Morgan Hills Unique Area along some trails and old logging roads. Everyone, both two- and four-legged, enjoyed the crisp air, scenery, and company.

And now, thanks to a very loose tooth, some Laffy Taffy and a set of vampire teeth, we have our very own jack-o'-lantern.

Happy Halloween....

...and let us introduce you to "The Man in the Yellow Hat" from Curious George and "Rosie the Riveter"!  Both kids selected and created their costumes and were so pleased to try them on and attend a trick-or-treating mystery event last night at the George and Rebecca Barnes Historical Museum as a true "dress-rehearsal" for the big day, today!

Reed's Rockwell Playground

Reed invited us one warm evening this past week to see the new playground that just opened up at his school. We got to see the new yellow slides and climbing facilities as well as the old favorite playground equipment. Reed was so proud to share his playground and teach us the ways of recess at Rockwell Elementary.

Carving Time

Last weekend, after one final stop at The Hollow for big pumkins to carve, we shuttled our carving gear into the pole barn and settled down to work. Reed planned the Jack O'Lanterns' faces on the chalkboard and Willa scooped out the "guts" of the pumpkins. The we all assisted the Master Carver (aka "dada") as he made the pumpkins come alive.  Finally we added the candles and sat back and watched the glow of our fall and Halloween spirit!

Our Terrific Traveler

Reed recently was recognized and awarded a button for being a kindergarten role-model for bus safety while traveling to and from school.  We are so proud of our terrific traveler and grateful to his teacher, the beloved Mrs. Plunkett, for snapping this photo!

More Apples Every Day...

...is why we keep returning to Beak and Skiff Orchards right up the road. Well, the apples keep us coming back but so do the playground, the tractor-pulled wagon,  and the cider-cinnamon donuts.  Please notice that Reed is only biting into an apple with one side of his mouth.  A very, very loose tooth is present on the other side and we are sure you will see a toothless-grin photo up here before too long!
