Fathers Day....
...Is a day to honor all the great dad's out there. We'd like to single out this one; Reed and Willa's dad is the best father any two- or four-legged creature could ask for and they are so fortunate to have him as their own. We love you, Daddy!
Art on the Porches
Art on the Porches is an annual child-friendly community event, celebrating local artists and urban living. We attended this past weekend and the highlight of our adventure was getting the kids' faces painted. Reed and Willa were delighted to spend the day as a pirate and rainbow butterfly!
All Creatures, Great and Small
That's what Willa loves. From her dog and cat, to various farm charges to the swallowtail caterpillar that we recently discovered, which is now in a chrysalis in our butterfly house, Willa loves them all.
Our Citizen of the Week
Reed was awarded a great honor when he was named the Rockwell Elementary Citizen of the Week recently. Reed was nominated by his beloved Mrs. Plunkett and the award was given by his school's principal, Mrs. Hart. He was recognized at the Morning Program on Flag Day and lead the audience in saying the Pledge of Alliegence. Reed and his parents then marched in the school's Flag Day parade around the neighborhood. We could not be prouder of our model citizen and favorite boy and couldn't have thought of a better way to wrap up a spectacular kindergarten year.
Duck Face at the Duck Race
We all attended the Olde Home Days celebration in Marcellus Park. The kids rode on the rides and played a few games and we all cheered on the ducks as they made their way down the creek!
Our Puppiversary
Hard to believe that it's been one year since this sweet, gentle old soul in a puppy's body arrived at our house and found a home in our hearts. We love you Stella Blue!
The Windy City
Willa and her mommy took a trip over the Memorial Day weekend out to Chicago to visit one of Willa's mommy's dear friends and her two daughters. Willa spent much of her first two years playing with these sweet little girls when they lived close by and was delighted to go visit them in their new home. It was a weekend of "firsts" for Willa: first time on an airplane, first time getting a "mani pedi" (done by the wonderful babysitter so the two mommies could go out for an evening), first time at the Lincoln Park Zoo, first time at the "Bean" and fountains at Millenium Park, first time staying in an apartment and in a city, first time having a "sleepover" with friends and first time getting to see a sunset from above the clouds. We had a spectacular and busy long weekend and we cannot wait to go back to visit again soon!
Jumping In...
...For the first swim of the season! (This post was written a couple weeks ago but did not publish until now).
